DMT’s products are known for their superior quality and versatility, are easy to use and allow for sharpening in a fraction of the time required by other methods. dmtsharp.com is popular with woodworkers, chefs and gardeners and in the kitchen because they are lightweight and portable.
I use the diamond technology to sharpen knives, tools & gardening tools….what type of sharpening tools do you use? Please let me know…..

Hi Matrix,

I have used stones and sandpaper but could never get a sharp enough edge on them. About a year ago I went with the WorkSharp system and am producing razor edges on my chisels and irons. It won’t do anything but chisels and plane irons though.

I have DMT stones, waterstones, a slow speed grinder, a high speed grinder with a felt buffing wheel. Depends of the stage of sharpening I need to do. I try to keep everything in the water stone/buffing wheel stage. I normally touch up the edge with the buffing wheel, periodically while I’m using my tools. If something gets a little rough, I’ll go to the water stone or maybe the finer grits of my DMT stones.

I made my own sharpening station but I also use diamond paper that was made for the optical industry. I’ve got 5 mic and some .5 micron paper. I stick them to a piece of granite to do the final touchups, But the paper is tough enough to remove metal also.

But from my blog you can see that I’ve tried everything.

I tried the sandpaper route and was never too happy with it. I bought some cheap DMT knock offs from Amazon. The difference in the results is quite amazing. The finest grit I have in these diamond stones is only 340. While I am not shaving my firearm with my chisels yet, I am doing better than before in cutting and planing wood.

Emery paper stuck to glass gives a good flat surface but I prefer the diamond stone.
