Topic tags/keywords: oak milling

No heat in the pole barn where the shop is. So, I dress for the cold weather. I needed some parts milled up, to make an Oak Toy box. Still got a bit of that old barn rafter Oak. Made most of the parts, even cut some “store-bought” 1/4” plywood, as well Then I loaded up the parts into the van, and back to the house I went. Part of the load was some clamps and other toys. A look at the parts:

Then a bit of assembly (ignore that old shag carpet)

Then upstairs to make a dry fit

That was last night, today was a glue up of the box!https://s3.amazonaws.com/vs-lumberjocks.com/lw62u0x.jpg!

Add some cleats for the bottom

and the bottom

Still to be done, glue up 5 boards into a lid, trim and shape it, add some hinges, and TRY to match the colours on the box.

You are making good progress. The box will turn out nice despite the cold! Cant wait to see the finished project.

Sanded, hand planed, and stained. Still need to varnish this little box:

A look inside:

And a look at that five-board lid.

Just some old boards….

Looks good, but why don’t you heat the shop?

Shop is in a LARGE, uninsulated metal Pole Barn. I’m out there a few times a month. Poe Barn owner allows me to “Timeshare” the Barn with the use(by him) of my tools. Wood working is just a hobby right now.
