I’m looking for a bandsaw and I am looking at the Rigid 14” and the Grizzly 14”. The Rigid seems to have some mixed reviews and the Gizzly has fairly consistent good reviews. Any suggestions between the two or does anyone think that there is a better value out there.

I agree with Gary’ suggestion. There have been several reviews posted here. At this level there is really little difference between the saws, as far as quality goes. The differences that you see are mainly in the accessories that come with the saw. I, for instance, bought a Powermatic in December. It cost significantly more than other 14” saws but it comes with accessories such as a resaw fence, quick tension relief and carter guides that some other saws do not have.

You are going to get a quality saw for the money. One piece of advice I would offer is to toss the blade that comes with whatever saw you get. Replace it with a Timberwolf or Woodslicer blade and you will be much happier with the performance.

I would take Gary’s & Scott’s advice to heart. I just had to upgrade the guides on my Jet to the Carter guides. After market this adds approx. $150 to the cost of the saw.

I have the grizzly 14” ultimate GO555, it’s a great saw. The only problem I’ve had with it is that the lower guide and thrust berrings froze up. It was no problem. I emailed grizzly, they got back with me within an hour with the part numbers and how to order. they have great customer service. And from what I’ve seen so far, the equipment is good.
