Hey Gang-
Long story short, the wife and I relocate fairly often for her work. Our next move is international, don’t know where yet just upcoming. As a result of our last move, I no longer have any major power tools, and I have a large batch of mostly cherry and walnut I need to get surfaced soon before we leave so I can get some things done. Does any one have any recommendations in the Jackson, MS area or vicinity for shops that allow rental time on planers/wide belt sanders? I’m also up against a January shoulder surgery deadline and am in a big hurry to get this done.

Thanks and best regards,
Ryan

gugnheim I am in Brandon and do not have the tools you are in need of. I do it by hand. There is Pickens Hardwoods Clinton Ms. Give them a call. Other than that I am drawing a blank. If I think of something Ill post back. Wana borrow my #4?;)

Dave-
Thanks, but I have a #4 – bronze LN that was a present from the wife. I’m just up against a serious deadline and have a lot(!) of board feet to go through. I appreciate the thought and am glad to meet a fellow woodworker down here. The idea is to get a couple tool chests and at least one Roubo done by move date in Spring. I’ll be back in Cincy for Christmas(hometown) and plan on harassing my pals up there for ideas and technique.

Well it all depends on what you’re calling wide. I have a 13” planer in Vicksburg. I’d be more than happy to help you get your material ready if it’s under 13” and you can bring it to Vicksburg. If this will help, send me a PM and I’ll give you my phone number.

William and all, thanks for the suggestions. I’d love to get together sometime and at least visit shops and say a hello. I appreciate the offer. I’ve always known woodworkers to be generous. I’ll make some calls about the contacts I’ve been given and at the very least can drive out sometime to visit.
Thanks
Ryan

You’re welcome anytime gugnheim. Just let me know ahead of time. I usually check Lumberjocks every evening at least. So send me a PM for my number so you can let me know when to be sure to have extra coffee cups clean.

Dave-
Thanks for the offer of the PM, I never received a list. William, I will. It’s finals week, and my students are probably plotting my doom, but hopefully before I have leave to go back north for Christmas.

Once again, thanks for everyone’s suggestions.

You can also contact me at:
greasemonkeyredneck@yahoo.com
wdwoodworks@yahoo.com
and on facebook under the ID wdwoodworks
also, I have a blog at http://wddsrfinewoodworks.blogspot.com

I started to just post my number publicly and thought better about it. I’ll tell you sometime what happened the last time I done that. Let’s just say that my wife doesn’t talk to me the way the woman did who called me.

Superdav and the rest following:
Pickins got back to me. Super friendly and lots of stock, but don’t cut wood that wasn’t purchased there. But they seem like a great local Jackson option for later.
Later,
Ryan
