Topic tags/keywords: walnut pen blanks turning question

I have a few, could have a LOT, but I was wondering what a fair price for these would be.
They are nice grained and are 3/4” square and 6” long and the wood is dry and stable.
I’ll add some pictures later, way too much rain and lighting right now.
But, just considering they are your average walnut would anyone please be able to guess at a fair price for me?

Thanks in advance.

David

What price are they going for in the market place. If you had some specimen blanks then you could ask more.

You should check out the sites below for some ideas on pricing.

I may have to come up I65 and check them out. I just turned my first walnut pen and it finished incredibly well. Send me an email Dave let me know when would be a good time. Oh and directions to. I’m guessing a thirty minute drive from downtown area?

looking at Woodcraft, where I would typically buy something like this, they are priced at about $1 a piece. Of course they need to be purchased as a 10 pack which makes sence to me.

you may be better off keeping the blanks closer to 5” in length also as that appears to be the standard length for a pen blank, and could give you an extra blank or two depending on the length of your stock.

Yep Keen, about 30 min or so. I’ll send some directions.

Darryl, I think you are right about the WC price, but I kept seeing prices that were way below and above that and my pea brain couldn’t handle the strain, so I figured the folks here would be a better indicator.
I used 6” lengths because that was the left over size from another project..and I was too lazy to cut them again.
