I am looking for a manufacture that makes a spring tension for a drill press. Need a 1” and a 2” one made or somewhere to buy one. We have done internet searches etc and no luck so if someone can help it would be great. We have tried the manufactures and they are no help at all

Is it old American Iron, or rice fed new stuff?
If it’s new, you might have to buy a parts machine to rob what you need off it; or as you suggest find someone to make you one.
If its old you might check with OWWM.org for information.

Do you have the existing part? Is it broken?

McMaster Carr ( mcmaster.com ) might have a spring you could use, or material to make your own with.

A btter description and picture would help. I fix machines for a job and always manage to find what I need…
