Topic tags/keywords: question drill press milling

I’m looking at buying a benchtop mortiser when I get home. Does anyone know If they can also double as a small drill press? Any recomendations on which benchtop to buy. I’m considering powermatic. Thanks for the input

I think all benchtop mortisers are about the same. I have a delta and am happy with it. As far as using it for a drill press I suppose it could but have really never looked at it since I have a drill press. I think the stroke might be a little short for some things though.

And you probably don’t get the same variable speed selection you would get on a drill press. That can be important if you want to drill metal, even different woods need different speeds.
