Santa came early to my house this year with a L-N #62 with cocobolo option, and I am about as giddy as a little kid on Christmas morning. From now on when it comes to hand tools, my M.O. is going to be “save up and get the best”. The thing that drove me to get this plane was the versatility and the ridiculous price retention should I decide to sell it down the road… When my wife gets home to relieve me of kid watching duties, I’m going to hone a steeper micro-bevel on this bad boy and put it to work!

Man, that cocobolo is nice. I bet it’s an expensive option…and it should be; makes that plane look like it should (I hate the standard totes). That is one nice gift.

Cocobolo is $50 extra through craftsmanstudio.com. I don’t think that is unreasonable, based on pricing aftermarket exotic tote/knob sets. I wanted my first new plane (I only have rehabbed stanley and millers falls planes up to this point) to be blinged out.

I didn’t see any other L-N online dealers who offered it, and it wasn’t available on all the planes through the website.

I love my LN 62 with the regular cherry handles, but that cocobolo is really something else.

Have your say...
