My best friend and partner in the Gnarly Wood Shoope died today after a brief illness. I will miss my friend dearly. He had friends on LumberJocks, so, just wanted to let you know.

Schroeder, Thank you for the post about Al. He was my uncle and I found out about his passing a while ago. I typed his name in a search finder to see if anything was posted about him online since they lived in Oregon. This was the first thing that popped up. Al will be very missed and our family appreciates all the condolences. I’m gonna miss them plaid lumberjack flannels and suspenders…....

My Best Friend of 35 years who was also my Construction Company Partner. Passed away last Year after a 2 YEAR battle with every form of Cancer you can think of.

BUT! I considered it an HONOUR that I could walk beside him wherever His Path took US.

He’s gone now and so is all of His Pain and Suffering. He is now at Peace. That Pleases me.

His Spirit will always live on, especially in my Heart. The Found Memories of our 35 Years as Friends will Live On Forever.

As I came to know…The Sadness, Tears and Pain you are now feeling are a Result of the JOYS you once experienced and can no longer do so. Are they Truly Tears of Sorrow ….or Tears of Joy?

“When you are sorrowful look deeply into Your Heart and you shall see that in Truth You are Weeping for that which has been Your Delight.”

“You Pain is the breaking of the Shell that Encloses Your Understanding.” (Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet)

My Sincere Condolences to You and the Family of Your Dear Friend Alton
