OK, so I had it on backwards all this time.
I was thinking lately that having to reach to the back to release the tool rest was not only a PITA but unsafe as well. That’s why I always turned off the lathe before doing so, well almost always.
So the idea is to have the thing swing out on the extension arm. But I don’t need that right now.
So, dah! Take off the extender arm and pit the tool rest in the bottom piece…and turn it around so the handle in on the front….duh.
This all happened because I didn’t pay close enough attention when I disassembled the thing to carry it downstairs.
Sometimes it just takes me a while longer…........
