A clamp that doesn’t get a lot of discussion is the Klemmy clamp from Bessey. I get a lot of use from these. They are a light to medium duty type that are extremely light, easy to use, and has a 4” throat. The cam action allows a gradual pressure that is very controllable.

I’ve seen them but have never used them. I might have to invest in a pair. Do you have the wooden or plastic clamps?

You think like I do. I actually tried to make one. The clearances for the bar, and the detail in the head are so well made, that unless you’ve got a lot of time to fool with prototypes, it isn’t really worth it. You would still have to buy one for a copy, and I’m sure after trying it out you would want more, and then it might be really worth the time.

Just a note, that they have kits for making handscrew clamps.
