Just turned 2 Twig/Weed Pots

The weed pots are made from an old red ceder post my father brought me from WI. It had lots and lots of Lead from bullets. The little one still has a small piece in the white spot.

It was getting rotten in the center and that is why you see the missing wood. I added thin CA glue to hold most of it together and the finish is Tung oil added over a 3 day period.

The small one is for my mother who has been in a Old folks home for 6 years and she does not have much space to put things.

They are to put dried flowers or twigs or other dried florel or even dried weeds into them for display.

I am playing catchup after not turning for 16 months. I am starting slow and will get up to speed again.

SS – Do you have to live in CA to do that? Watch out for TX.

Nice work! I like using cedar. It really sucks up a finish, I can see it taking 3 days.

I should have added that the first 3 pre coats were Tung oil cut wit spirits a 70/30 mix and it really help the tung oil sink into the wood. The last coats were to give it a better finish.
