Topic tags/keywords: blum tandem drawer slide kits with blumotion question

Hi Jocks,

Has anyone purchased the 20” Blum 75lb. Blumotion Tandem Drawer Slide Kits From Rockler? I think I have the back panel and bottom panel figured out. Now I am trying to figure out the location of the clips on the drawer fronts. Anybody having any luck with that? Someway of simplifying the measuring process? My application is flush with about a 1/4” reveal in between boxes.

I have been deciphering the minimal instructions the came with, but man it ain’t easy! It could be just me so I am trying to find that out. With all the metric measurements and their goofy little diagrams… it has been a puzzle to say the least. Any and all help will be appreciated. I want to mount the drawers in a case I built for my son’s workbench. Thanks for checkin’ in.

Jack, this is an excellent choice for a smooth operating guide.

It does work a bit different than your conventional side mounted guides. All the math for determining the overall box size is measured from the inside of the drawer box to the inside of the drawer opening. A thicker walled drawer will be overall wider than a thinner walled drawer in the same opening. (Same width at the inside edges though.)

I imagine these are super expensive at a retail outfit like Rockler. Wholesale cost is about $20 to $25 a pair with clips depending on size and quantity.

The placement and size of the back hole is fairly critical for the proper funciton of the guide, so pay attention to that. The rest is fairly simple.

More information can be found on Blum’s website.

EDIT: Just looked at Rockler’s website—$19.99 per pair is a pretty good sale. Also just noticed this is for TANDEMBOX plus BLUMOTION, which is a different animal altogether from Tandem with Blumotion. TANDEMBOX includes the drawer side members as part of the box itself. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey DS251,

Yes those are the ones that I bought. The slides are integrated into the sides. The measurement for the bottom, back, and drawer front are all dependent are the inside measurement of the case. The instructions are hard to figure out. Plus there is a lot of metric stuff going on since these are made in Austria. Trying to figure out the location of the front clips that hold on the fronts was difficult. After many calls to Rockler and Blum in North Carolina for advice, I am now ready to mount the drawers in the case…got my fingers crossed too! I probably made this harder than it should be… I always do. The kits are nice and retail was originally $75.00. I couldn’t pass them up for $19.99 but they are not for the faint of heart lol. Thanks for the response. Cheers, Jack
