This is the first box I have made for Loving Hands Memory Boxes. It was sent to a couple on Woodnet that needed one.

I tried 9 times to make boxes out of Pine before I finally got the last one the way I wanted. It is made from Rosewood that someone gave me. I did have the middle of the lid made from a nice piece of Curly Maple, however, I flubbed that nice piece of wood up. So I made some changes and made it from 1/8 plexiglas instead. I sprayed the whole thing with Clear Poly semigloss. It cam out good, however, I do not like how the Poly flowed out very well. I also added splines on the whole thing.

Thanks guys. Like I said 9 times and patience pays off. I think I am a big fan of spline miters now also, they are easy to do (after making a jig) and they hold the project together well.

Dave
I did not get to see the pictures you added all it shows is red X’s

Pat
Thanks for the praise

I tried to put some nice Curly Maple where the plexiglass it now, however, I rounded the inside with a roundover bit before I put it together so it did not look good. So I did a rabbit around the inside to accept the plexiglass.

I need some advise, how does everyone keep everything in order to avoid mistakes like I did?

Thank you for your kind remarks. I also did some twig/weed pots. You might like that too.

Good job Arliln.

You should submit it as a completed project.

Well, it’s like we always said in the Navy, no jobs complete until the paperworks done…
