Here is another one of the raritys in my saw collection. It’s a Harvey Peace #40 back saw, dating from between 1867 and the late 1870’s. It’s in very nice condition with a straight blade. The teeth are in great condition but could use a light filing if this is going to be a user saw. The applewood handle is excellent with full horns and large forward hook that Peace used prior to the late 1870’s. The handle has had no repairs done and it has the original split nuts. The handle is very tight to the blade with no wobble.
With a light filing this could easily be an excellent user saw, or because of it’s history, a great addition to your collection. The blade is 12” long, 3 1/4” at the heel and 2” at the toe. The blade etch is a bit faint but mostly readable.
This is an excellent saw from a premium maker and is no less than 130 years old. I am asking $140 for it. This price is my best guess as to the saws value considering its rarity, condition and having talked to several saw collectors, dealers and experts. As always, if you think I’m out to lunch on the price, please send me a PM explaining why and I will happily consider offers. Thanks!
Thanks for looking.

I am interested in your Peace saw. Could you e- mail me some closer/clearer pictures of the blade etch?
