Hello All…this is my first post here. I was impressed by the quality of advice when I first ran across the forum and, since I could use some advice right now, I signed up.
Thanks for the greetings I received as a new member.
I’m probably going to purchase a bandsaw in the next few days and I’m looking hard at the Laguna LT-14. Although I’m a fairly accomplished carpenter, I’ve never owned a bandsaw. In fact, I’ve hardly used one at all so I’m pretty much new to the tool. I’m at a phase in my life right now (65 and semi-semi-retired) where exploring and trying new things is more possible than it used to be (I’m not rich, but I’ve got some time that I never had before) and, who knows, maybe using and learning this tool will open up some possibilities that I’ve not seen before. I’ve just built a new shop space and am having a good time putting it all together. As the space began to open up and I finished placing my heavy tools, I realized I actually had space for a bandsaw!
So…here are my questions:

What do you all think of the Laguna LT14 SUV? I’ve been through some of Lumberjocks archived info so I have some feel for the different opinions but I figured I’d ask the question again…new guy and all.

Is the Driftmaster fence something I should buy? Is it really only useful for veneer production or is it, in general, a good thing to have?

I will probably be doing a good bit of re-sawing. should I get the “high” fence offered by Laguna?

I’ve read different thoughts and opinions about saw blades. What is a good “starting” set?

And anything else anyone wishes to offer.
Thanks ahead of time. I hope I have something to offer some of you in the future.
