It’s difficult to admit that I have a 5 year old Ryobi 12” planer since I earn my living in woodworking, but I work mostly in melamine and so the occasional use never justified anything else. However, over the past few months I have run around 1000 board feet through it and it was starting to sound wierd and producing a lot of snipe, even after changing the blades. I felt the need to upgrade a little. I went to HD yesterday to purchase a DW 735 and noticed the price was still marked down to $495 (it was suppose to end in March). In addition, they have this big tool discount going on which would knock another $60 off the price. I promptly placed one on the cart and wheeled it to the register. It rang up at $549 and I pointed out to the clerk that that was the wrong price. He called the manager and the manager went over and pulled the price off the display and said the price was only good through March (even though it doesn’t say that). However, since they screwed up and didn’t change the display he would honor the posted price. So, I ended up at $460 out the door. Maybe this is going to be a good month after all. -- I don't make mistakes, only design changes.... |
