And such angry, divisive comments like yours are one of the reasons why good folks like bentlyj and CessnaPilotBarry have left LJ. I’m beginning to think their approach is the better path… |

I agree Pierce. Mtenterprise – keep that negative crap out of here. You could have EASILY not opened this thread, and could have EASILY not posted your comment on it. You could obviously tell by the title what it was about….so if you dont like reading about this kind of thing here on LJ’s….why did you open it? Get out of here. This forum is about discussing things (like you would in your shop with your friends) that ISNT woodworking related. I’m pretty sure this fits right in with that category. Its big news ”SO What! If I wanted to read about this topic I would read about it in the news. Mayhaps my comment will help steer this place back to the woodworking.” <——what a joke, if you didnt want to read about it here….why did you open it? and why did you feel you had to leave a negative comment? anyways…. This is horrible news! I was pretty shocked when I read about it a little earlier. What a damper on their new release of the Iphone 4s. He was a brilliant man, and has changed the technology world in such an amazing way!! He will definitely be missed! I dont think I could live without my Iphone! Thanks Jobs!!!! -- Hey you dang woodchucks, quit chucking my wood!!!! |

Thanks, dakremer! A memorable quote from Steve Jobs: ”Because almost everything—all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure—these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.” |

mtenterprises: What an ignorant and ill informed comment. It does have an effect on us woodworkers and it has impacted our lives, whether you think so or not. Steve Jobs has influenced just about every aspect of technology in the past three decades, so much so that anyone would be hard pressed to find a way that he has not influenced all of our lives in one way or another. Having said that, next time just don’t click the link to a thread that you obviously don’t want to read (you know, with your mouse that was developed by the man you state is so inconsequential). By the way, I believe this topic was posted under “Non-Shop Talk” because it is not related to woodworking, hence the category. If you don’t like non-shop talk on your woodworking site, then stay out of the non-shop talk forum. Makes sense to me. pierce85: Thanks for posting. |

And Windows is nothing more than a vain attempt to make DOS look like a MAC ;-)) It will never work like one. There is a reason Apple is leading the world as MSN struggles. Their luck is running out. Jobs will be missed. I am surprised he waited until this close to step down. Maybe he hoped to hold on for one last glorious debut?? -- "some old things are lovely, warm still with life ... of the forgotten men who made them." - D.H. Lawrence Wake Up America!! I must have missed something? The first comment I see is: ”And such angry, divisive comments like yours are one of the reasons why good folks like bentlyj and CessnaPilotBarry have left LJ.” by Pierce85. There is nothing here by mtenterprises. -- Michael :-{| Diapers and politicians both need to be changed often; and for the same reason. |

As a dedicated “Apple-Head”, I wish his family and friends well. What a great story of entrepreneurship and living. He will be missed. -- StevieP ~ Micheal Tompkins - you were not here on earth long but left a giant mark on us. RIP Brother |

Crank, It appears that mtenterprises comments have just been removed. He had a problem with the non-shop talk forum and evidently felt that it should only have been woodworking related. -- I don't make mistakes, I have great learning lessons, Greg |

Crank, I was confused at first myself. It appears that an inappropriate post was deleted ahead of Pierce’s. It must have been a real doozy. I’m with Topa, he must have been going downhill fast when he stepped down. That’s really sad to think about. Think what you want about the guy, no one can claim he wasn’t influential. -- My dad and I built a 65 chev pick up.I killed trannys in that thing for some reason-Hog |

The Mac 512 was my first computer – great company. His passing is a tremendous loss to the company, the industry, mankind. He has done more to change the way people do things than they imagine. There are some posts that have been removed, from the comments, it was appropriate to remove them. As a note to the admins, could we have a post that replaces the removed posts that indicate the removal something like “Removed post that was a violation of site rules!” or something like that – just so we don’t spend a lot of time trying to figure out how we missed step A and B and went directly to C. Just a thought. -- David in Damascus, MD |

^not a bad idea. I was trying to figure out why Pierce was so worked up about his own thread;) -- My dad and I built a 65 chev pick up.I killed trannys in that thing for some reason-Hog |

RIP, I wish his family and loved ones all the best and quick recovery. As much as Steve Jobs was an extreme person he did contribute a tremendous amount to where the computer world is today. It’s such a shame. It is interesting how this has happened so shortly after his passing of the torch to the new CEO as if he felt the time has come. -- ㊍ When in doubt - There is no doubt - Go the safer route. |
