hello -i am an amateur woodworker and just built my dining room table.

Its a 6 foot pine table which I sanded down pretty good. I stained it and polyurethaned it. My first coat of poly was okay and the second coat made the table look awesome. Except there are a few spots( one long spot is the main one) that just feel like bare wood where it feels like nothing caught or stuck. I dont understand what I did wrong.

Any help?

There might be oils or some other residue that is preventing the poly from sticking around. It’s also possible that the wood is pretty thirsty there and has just absorbed the poly.

You can try sanding down the spot and putting some more coats on.
