I have looked at these online several times since their introduction to the market. I have not yet had a chance to go and physically hold one though. I will get around to it sometime, but I thought I’d pose the question here to hopefully shed a little more light on these 2-sanders.
From looking at the information available online, it appears that they both have the same motor, and the price is the same. Obviously the 6” is a bit larger than the 5”, and so it weighs a couple of ounces more. Are there any other differences between these two sanders that might make one more appealing than the other?
I understand the 2-sizes may work a little better for certain things. For instance, the 5”, being smaller, will fit into tighter spaces. And the 6”, being larger, might cover a larger area, such as a table top a bit better. Motor power and speeds are the same, so I’d imagine the 6” might effectively remove about 20% more material in the same amount of time, compared to the 5” model, but maybe not? Am I thinking about this correctly?
I am strictly interested in the differences between these 2-sanders only, no others. Not interested in air sanders, and don’t need to compare this to the Festool ROS line. I think I’ve already narrowed it down to the Mirka CEROS, just not sure which size? I’m not necessarily going to run right out and buy one, as they are rather pricey, but they are certainly in an entirely different league than other ROS (other than maybe the Festool).
Thanks for any further information you might be able to provide me with regarding the difference between these 2-sanders.
