Topic tags/keywords: zebrawood question Hey wood people.. I have a question. I’m trying to source some zebrawood (2+ bf). Anyone have some extra they would like to sell or trade for? I’d rather with a ‘jock than a shady ebayer… -- Dan, Rochester, NY |

Zebrawood is pretty common, Dan. -- I'm absolutely positive that I couldn't be more uncertain! |

woodworker’s source sells some for $20.00 per BF. -- Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. -- Albert Einstein |

Local woodcraft didn’t have anything more than the small 1/2” pieces (for $50 a pop) and I was planning on giving Pittsford Lumber a call tomorrow. Not too many places around here have exotics available. I can find decent-enough pieces on ebay for ~$12/bf (including shipping), but I wanted to cover all my bases to get the best quality and price. -- Dan, Rochester, NY |

I’ve got some Zebrawood veneer that has been stitting around my shop forever that I might be willing to part with. -- Don - I wood work if I could. Redmond WA. |

@Kev- I checked them out, but didn’t really want to drive all the way to Victor :| @Anji- shipping seems to always be the killer for wood in any quantity @Dusty- Thanks for the link. I’ll bookmark that and keep them in mind if I need more. I ended up going to Pittsford Lumber (very cool place btw, with excellent staff that didn’t mind shooting the breeze). I got a very select 5/4 piece 60”x6”. I’m surprised at the definition of “rough” for zebrawood.. All it needs is a quick hit of sandpaper for a smooth finish—no planing needed at all. I think the price was about $58, but given the generous thickness, I got a pretty nice deal. Plenty of thickness to resaw -- Dan, Rochester, NY |

Pittsford lumber is always fairly generous with their import lumber. On some of their more local woods the prices seem a little high there but with the imports the 4/4 always seems to be 15/16 or a true 1” with both faces surfaced and a fairly flat board. I don’t mind paying their prices because they’re friendly, have a great selection, and I can always find what I need. -- --Rev. Russ in NY-- A posse ad esse |

I was blown away with how much lumber they had in that place.. And seeing the 20/4 walnut slabs and 24” wide sapele boards made my jaw drop to the floor. I’ll be back for more for sure! Dusty- Its a true 5/4 piece.. flatter than flat, 1/4 sawn, and no sap pockets. I was willing to take a risk on cheap pieces off of ebay, but being able to pick out a flawless board was worth it. (Close to $20 a bf is not something I’m particularly fond of) -- Dan, Rochester, NY |
