I have some Black Walnut that I’m not going to bother with. You can have it if you pay for the shipping. It’s just small pieces that I cut off of the ends of longer boards, some have some dry rot. It is what it is. Its enough walnut to fill the box that my Delta Band Saw Riser came in. If you really need to know the bf, I can measure it but it is what is.

If you’re interested, all you need to do is go to UPS.COM and pay for a shipping label and send me the link so that I can print it out. Use 3.5 lbs for the weight. I’ll take the box to work with the shipping label and have UPS pick it up. UPS leaves the office sometime in the AM (CDT), I think it’s like 10am but I won’t swear to it. I will take it to work Monday if anyone is interested.

If there is lot of response from people who truly want this, I’ll take all of the names and draw one from a hat. If there’s just a few, then first come first serve. Sound fair?

I’ll post pictures so that you can see what you’ll be getting.

The fist picture is the box:

Piece 1 Side 1:

Piece 1 Side 2:

Piece 2 Side 1: (This piece has rot in the middle. I split it down the rot so that it would fit in the box.

Piece 2 Side 2:

Piece 3 Side 1:

Piece 3 Side 2:

If not, it goes to the burn pile either Saturday or Sunday.

Chunk,

As a suggestion, you might want to give some more information for anybody that is serious about getting this from you, or at least anybody that is potentially interested in getting this from you. Dimensions, shipping zip code, etc.

Lis, Not to try blocking some deal. But #2 common, sometimes refer to as knotty walnut or rustic walnut, should not cost you much more then 2.00 bf and it would possess a fair amount of sap mixed in with heart.

Look into sawmill services, hardwoods lumber yards. Look up local cabinet shops and call them and ask where they buy their hardwoods. And of course you may already know this, but I know rustic walnut, which is what u describe, is very inexpensive.

Great offer Chunky!

Jerry, I don’t understand your post, he is GIVING it AWAY! You only pay postage.

I would be interested, but postage cost is prohibitive to Canada…

Yeah, did not mean to confuse you Jusfine.

Lis, I just suggested to look into local pricing to ensure a free deal is cost.effective, im sure you are a very intellegent person and already know this.

I used to think lowes and hd was king and i did not buy anywhere else. Then finding hardwood yards was awesome. But even then I bought fas, until a friend clued me into buying rustic/#2 and i then started saving a ton of $. I was so thankful to that friend. Knowledge is power, and i aim to empower those with similar interest whenever i see an opportunity.

So Jusfine, what are the capitol letters for, did you accidentally bump the shift lock button?

On a bright note, we just bought 1000 bf of some beautifull walnut for an upcoming kitchen.

I’ve not said that this was the best walnut out there. It is just ends cut off of rough cut stock. It is what it is. I caught a lot of flack for mentioning on an other topic that I toss this type of stuff into the burn barrel. So here’s your opportunity to get what I typically haul out to back forty and add to the burn pile. The phrase “put up of shut up” comes to mind.

If you want it, that’s awesome, if not, that’s awesome too. It doesn’t cost me anything to toss it onto the burn pile.

I’ll definitely take it if tyskkvinna or Lance don’t want it. Just let me know and I’ll send the UPS label.

I am well aware I could likely get a cheaper piece of walnut. But this piece kind of sings to me, I have something specific in mind for it already. In the scheme of things, is it worth fretting about if you could have gotten something similar, cheaper? Nah.

(I’ve claimed it. I’ll be sure to share the pictures of what I make with it. :) )

Thanks Lis. Someone with an Artistic eye can certainly do something with it, something that I sadly do not have. I think that if someone was a turner, they may have been able to get a few turning blanks. Again, I am neither an artist nor a turner.

There’s a “bonus” in the box that will more than make up for the shipping.
