You OK with this, brother? Getting more back than you paid seems a bit iffy but I’m not an angel or judge.

I probably wouldn’t want to do that; however, I usually keep all of my left over hardware anyways and put it in bin boxes. If you have to go to Lowe’s for a few bolts or something little like that the value of the lost time will be worth far more than keeping a good selection of bolts, screws, nails etc. After a while you can build up a pretty good selection. Then it’s there when you need it.

And why is it that everything costs so much more these days…
I’m with Sheila on this one…

You may have just cost someone their job when at the end of the day that person’s drawer is short…not sure if its done that way at HD for returns though. Either way it’s not the most morale thing to do but I’m no judge or jury.

Sounds a bit to close to stealing for me.. I wouldn’t do it..

What’s stopping you from going in and buying the bulk packs.. and then returning as singles?

Besides.. I never return extra hardware.. I like having all that extra around for when I need it..

I don’t believe you. I don’t think they would let you pull that off. In other words, I think you are a liar… not a thief.

If somehow you did do that, then karma is all over those Detard batteries you got (plus the hex I’m putting on them now).

I wont pass judgement. However, I do like to keep extra hardware like helluvawreck mentionted. There can be a lot of value having the right piece on hand. Nothing worse than time/gas wasted for a .39¢ bolt.

Me thinks the other half of the “catch 22” hammer has yet to fall. Tic Toc…

Ditto, all comments above. Boy, this one’s even got libs and cons agreeing.

Like I said, I wouldn’t want to do that. However, it’s probably the only way they can refund him because they have two choices 1) full unopened boxes of bolts or 2) individual bolts. More than likely there is no other numbers in their data base. When they enter the inventory numbers in a price comes out. If they search for an individual bolt number then that price is going to come out and that’s what they have to do. Otherwise, these clerks would start having to use mathematics to figure out what he actually paid for each bolt and nut and the company would then be loosing labor, lines would be backing up at the refund counter, and customers waiting in line would start getting angry. I imagine the management of these companies have already taken these things into consideration so they take the simple way out. The store probably comes out better in the long run.
