I’d love to be there too, but already promised my kids something local. San Angelo is half way to Big Bend! I might get away with a slight detour, but….................

Wish it were another weekend.

I’d really like to but it’s a little out of my range.

I checked on google maps and Gulfport, Mississippi is closer to me than San Angelo.

A little over 400 miles (ONE WAY!)

Might try Fredericksburg this fall. It is only 263 miles one way.

San Angelo?? That town has been in the news alot lately..

I’ll try to make it. I gotta see some inspirational work, I’ve been slowing down but i think resssesion has alot to do with it.
Cant wait to hit the road and dig in to all that hwy junkfood! : )

I just remembered 20th is a full moon, any coincidence the mesquite show was scheadualed on those days?

Sorry I wont make it, I have a 28” thick x 10’-12’ trunk tree schedualed to harvest and mesquite wood thats harvested during full moon tends to last longer than if not cut down at that time. Thats what the native old timers say.
I’ll be missing out on the show. Please take a few pics and good luck!

I wish too sIKE, we’ll mill it on the spot, with new blades.

Austin is 6hrs away….......and $200 for fuel, w/o cargo. Fuel is crazy!

One trunk should yeild enough wood for a large project/collectors piece of furniture. If your skills equal Scotts, it would be a worthy investment. : )

If you go for Oktoberfest you’ll need to layover for a week to catch the Texas Mesquite Festival the next weekend.

After Oktoberfest you might need the week to recover. lol

Are you hauling your mill too? I have no way to haul a trunk, but slabs are possible.

BSB-Thanks for the kind words-If you do you Fredricksburg I may be interested in getting a few logs, trunks from you.You know there are guys selling wood there at the show you may do well since they mainly have smaller stuff nothing like the widths you have posted. You guys must be doing something to your trees downs there -maybe it’s the chewing tabacco spit!!!!
I will try and post some pictures from the show-

Scott, the sun is so intense here, it like an oven. So the peoples gather under tree shade and square dance a few hours during midday, daily. I think its the country music…
Believe it or not, when chainsaw roars leaves on tree shrivel up. : ( lol
