Just picked up a DC380 and wondering what is the best way to clean up the surface rust on the planer bed?

Same way you clean up surface rust on any cast iron table such as table saw or jointer?
scrap it, or
sand it, or
mill it.

I use WD40 spray the surface let soak for 10 minutes then sand with 500 or 1000 grit sand paper, wipe off as much as possible, wipe over with rubbing alcohol, then spray a protective coating of “silicon free Dry Lube” wipe off excess and back to planing
