Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there’s any advantage in integrating the round part of the dust collector for an upgrade as opposed to just linking the output directly to a canister filter?

If you mean the green, 20” x 6 inch ‘middle’ part of the original HF collector, I actually just copied DIY Tyler’s design and yes, I kept it in. Reason being that it made it easy to adapt the 5” hose to the filter and give me something to mount the filter to. I suppose you could omit the filter pan, as I’m calling it, if you make some sort of cone or box to get everything to adapt.
