Wanted - Hardwood cutoffs (for pen blanks)

I have lots of maple strips that are just begging to be pen blanks. They’re all rock maple with various amounts of figure, grain, birdseye, etc. I’d be happy to send you a box of some stuff if you would eventually show me pictures of what you make! :)

I recently completed a major project that I had purchased over 800 bf of 6/4 red oak for and I have LOTS of cutoffs that would make good pen blanks – - if you want oak.

In my opinion, oak does not make for a very interesting pen, but if you are interested, let me know.

As an FYI – Some of these oak cutoffs are destined to become Lincoln Logs but I have a lot more than I will need for my Lincoln Log project.

I truly appreciate the offer, but oak is one of the few woods I prefer not to work with. Red oak can be very finicky due to the nature of the fibers.

I’d love to see how they turn out as lincoln logs though. That’s a neat idea I never thought of.

Carl, I have some walnut, maple, cherry, African Mahogany, ash, white oak, poplar, cut offs waiting for the burn ban to be lifted. If you can use any of these, let me know.

If you want a good source of penturning information I recommend looking into http://www.penturners.org/ . They have an amazing amount of knowledge and everyone there is just as willing as any LJ to help out.
