What type container do you keep your homemade finish in?
For me, hearing you weigh in serves two purposes:
1. Safety – let’s not blow up the house.
Who knows George Frank? Awesome guy, RIP. Look up his book, Adventures in Finishing if you are not familiar. He got me motivated to ditch the Danish oil and try making my own finish. I know many of you do this however, it is new to me.
I just mixed up 25% Pure Tung, 50% BLO, and 25% Pure Turpentine. I put it in a recycled plastic bottle that used to hold a bleach based product. (I cleaned it well. Even used vinegar and soda to neutralize scent.) I figured it was a good choice for ease of application. There is nothing practical about a rectangular can with a silver dollar sized hole in the top. This bottle has a top much like what you find on sports drink bottle. The plastic material is pretty sturdy.
I’m hoping it is safe for storage. So…
Advice, experience, tips, tricks, secrets???
Hope everyone is well…
