Topic tags/keywords: question turning

Can anyone tell me how can I made a rounded frame on wood lathe ?
I am interested in how to make a round frame from a single piece of wood, without using a band saw.
If possible with pictures.
Or can someone give me a link to a website or blog.
Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean a circular frame, in which case, as long as your piece has sufficient diameter, you’re set.

Get it set up and spinning, flatten what will be the back. Start working on the front, shaping from the outside in. Once you’re done, do the inside face, and then start working from front to back. Either you’ll break through at some point, or you can stop before you do and finish it with a sharp knife, sandpaper, or whatever you have handy.

Basically it’s like making a bowl…badly :o) You are really making a nice rim, and then failing on the rest.

@cr1
I mean round frame. Sorry. I want to make Victorian-style round frames. To enlighten you check this link: http://victorian-frames.stores.yahoo.net/round-frames.html.
This style is very appreciated in Europe. There are many “Vintage” amateur seeking these types of frames
Or see this:

Round mirror frame is in fashion I think
@AUBrian
Besides being good at turning wood you have a good intuition too :). Thank you. I have cleared up somewhat with the last row of you.
