Last night I was forced to rescue this Craftsman Jointer from the local auction.
As I have mentioned in other posts, I prefer to use vintage woodworking tools: I guess it is the idea of using something old, or dated, to make something new. I have been looking through several on-line auctions trying to find one of these at a reasonable price, but I was unable to find one that was what I really wanted. When I walked into the local auction house, I could not believe that I saw this one sitting there. I had considered paying someone in Virginia $75.00 for a rusted heap that would have cost me another $75.00 to either drive to pick it up or mail it and a few weeks to restore. I was able to pick this one up for $10.00. For $10 I picked up a jointer that far surpasses any 4” jointer made today. I think that is why I like older tools: they are in-expensive and are a far better tool than some made today. -- Brian, Lebanon PA, If you aren’t having fun doing it, find something else to do. |
