cedar oil on pine?

i was wondering if anyone has ever used cedar oil on pine? the inside of a chest is made of pine i was thinking of lining the inside of the chest with cedar but all i have found is super expensive so i was thinking about using cedar oil for the fragrance. so i was wondering if the oil would work of any suggestion as to where to get the cedar at a decent price! thank you
