There are lots of examples of cold molded boats in the most severe of outdoor environments.
They rely on epoxy alone, with no fastenings.
The right epoxy for the job will almost always be the best answer in harsh environments.

As Paul suggests, use the correct epoxy/wood combo for the job.
Research is the key.
