After the Dr. visit today, we all agree that I can stop using a hospital bed (after 5 years) and use a regular bed.
My wife and I were thinking about a kingsize Sleep by Number. Does anyone have one and what do you think of it?
Thank You
Arlin

I have one. I really like the way you can push a button to determine the hardness of one side independently of the other. Well worth it IMO.

I have a friend that got one of those “memory foam” mattresses. He loves it. But that might be too soft fofr your needs

Arlin,
We had one and it didn’t work for us. I would roll over on to the middle, or her side and increased pounds = increased pressure. My brother-in-law and his wife love theirs. They have two homes and a condo and they have a sleep by number in each location. I have several friends who have them and love them. In my opinion, they don’t work for people who like to snuggle, or someone like me who can’t seem to stay on their side in the night.

We replaced it with a Simmons Beautyrest Classic w/ the 3” pillow top. We’ve been using it for three years now and love it. Both of our adult children had previously purchased that same mattress and loved theirs. We should have ordered the half box spring, which is 5.5” tall rather then 11”. Our new bed’s rails are taller then our old frame, and with a full size box spring and a mattress with a 3” pillow top it’s really tall. I would recommend you look for a low frame and defiantly get the half box spring.

Hello Arlin, Wife & I tried a sleep # bed and gave it to our daughter. She likes it alright, but it doesn’t always “hold” the number selected. We switched to adjustable beds with memory foam. Wouldn’t give up memory foam for the world ! Someone mentioned memory foam being too soft…as long as the memory foam is 4lb. minimum you would be pleased. they make it up to 6lb. (very very firm, & very pricey) only the cheaper 3lb and less memory foam is soft.Covers also dampen temperature of body heat held in foam mattress. I live in Florida where it is hot !! and don’t find the body heat a problem. Think of the winter comfort when you can take off the special temp guard cover and enjoy the fact that it holds body heat better than any other system. To each his own ! Go check them out at the store and you’ll see what I mean. I am a disabled Vet too, and have had upper & lower back surgery . I am very happy with memory foam. Good luck with whatever you choose, but try it out at the store first and make sure if you buy an “air” system like sleep number bed that they have a return policy and GET IT IN WRITING !

My wife and I have been discussing this issue and I’ll shortly be starting a new bed as well. Our choice was to make the bed frame 1” wider and go with a pair of XL twin mattresses. there is really a 2” difference but by squeezing them together we should eliminate the gap between them so we can still snuggle but each have the firmness we prefer. It doesn’t really save a lot of money but we hope it is the solution.
