Topic tags/keywords: tip planer

I WAS ASKED TO LET EVERY ONE KNOW WHAT I CAME UP WITH.
I don’t know if you L J’s have been following my topic on sharpening my own planer blades. I got quite a few comments on solving this problem, most of them were to sharpen (hone) them by hand. I do not have that kind of time…... then to hone out a nick would take many hours I do not have. One tip included off setting the nicked blade by 1/32” , which would solve the problem temporarily, but they still must be sharpened. I will probably end up with the small machine from grizzly at the link below or one like it. Grizzly not being the cheapest company around, I intend to try to find one else where like Harbor Freight or some place like that. This machine presently sells for $209.00 plus whatever? Which is not too bad a price…. if you want to consider having a machinist do it….... 2 or 3 times would probably pay for itself.
SO THANK YOU LUMBERJOCKS FOR SOLVING MY PROBLEM !!

I like the looks of that machine also.

I saw this yesterday and thought it looked pretty good. I do need something to sharpen knives with so I would be interested in seeing a review on this if you decide on a purchase. It may be useful to sharpen jointer blades as well. I have a hone but I haven’t decided whether it is working well enough or not.

Work sharp may have a planer blade attachment, check out the reviews. Maybe an LJ could give you an answer.

Delta has this one.
