Topic tags/keywords: finishing scrollworking cherry pine zebrawood question

I am planning on making a new hope chest for my daughter for christmas with a possible inlay of maybe a couple of leaves and a branch. The chest would be made out of pine with the leaves made out of zebra wood and the branch some dark wood (haven’t decided what it should be, probably will walk into the wood store and just pick it by sight but any suggestions would be appreciated). I was wondering if a cherry stain on the pine would negatively affect the zebra wood or any suggestions for the finish. thank you and hope to have pics posted soon of this project :-) miguel

I assume you are going to stain the pine before you glue the inlay in. If so, I don’t think there is any problem.
