Whilst I have no issue with this forum, or anyone who wishes to participate in it, and I’m sure I will get howled down, lambasted and abused but is there a way that the threads from this forum can be excluded from the Forum Topics widget on the front page ?

Sure, I could just ignore them, though, sadly from my perspective they are numerous and many, but the seemingly never-ending stream of the weird, paranoid and conspiracy theory driven rantings is really detracting from my fondness for the site.

Perhaps I’m just having a bad day

That was Martin’s original intent. He was having some performance issues with the software to exclude them. He may still be working on it.

Yes, the code to exclude it from the pulse page was causing performance issues and I belive he had to turn it off. I agree that it can be distracting.

+1 for the idea. I don’t come here for politics, religion, or conspiracy theories and would like to not have to see those overtaking the front page. ;)

I sure hope he gets the performance issues fixed. I agree, I too wish they were filtered out.

I hope it ends up being a full menu type of thing. I’d love to see it set up so you could just check off the ones you want to view (or filter out).

I too agree with this idea. And bentlyj… I thought they were not supposed to be about politics or religion… just stuff about LJs. Funny how stuff creeps in!!

I have no idea what you are talking about, could you be more specific? I have noted nothing that I would find annoying, and should I, then it’s a matter of moving on to the next post.

+1 to Charlie’s idea, personal choice being a good thing by any measure

This site is about our craft, and only that. Let us keep it so. No politics no religion no theories!

Has this issue been reopened? I would like to add a vote to the camp that has the Non Shop talk forum removed from the front page.

I try to ignore the silly posts that seem to be flooding it and i would never click on it but it. I would prefer not to see them at all.

Hey, even the non-shop talk threads have advertisements on them. The content is irrelevant. They’re valuable to someone.

While I agree that there are some really strange, bizarre, and sometimes stupid posts in the forum but where do you draw the line! I have a few questions. Who is the arbiter that decides what is weird, strange or otherwise? By what standard do you exclude someones post? I can understand not wanting foul language, pornography or racist comments being listed but those are already not allowed. The non shop talk forum was brought back because most of the members wanted it. If you don’t like religion or politics then don’t read them but don’t suggest that everyone else that may like or read them has to subject themselves to your desire for censorship because you are offended by just the title being on the front page. You probably shouldn’t go outside the house otherwise you may be offended by a bill board or newspaper article. Grow thicker skin!
