The family and I were taking the mother-in-law home this evening when we drove along the backside of a rather high-end neighborhood golf course. Basically a brushy and overgrown area that looked a little like a dump site. I’ve driven past there many times and noticed brush, but today I notied some freshly cut timber…...also noticed a dirt path, so I decided to take the truck off-road a little and see what was back there. Basically, it appears that people have been tossing their chainsawed logs in there for years!!! Found everything from rotten stumps that appear to be years old, to freshly cut cottonwood….from which I chose a nice crotch. Many piles in different stages of aging…..I think I’ll have to check this out from time to time…..better get to work on my resaw sled!

Correction: Did some research and found out that the crotch I found was northern hackberry

Great find-I’m still in the absolute rookie stage and wouldn’t know what to do with them but I know enough that in the right hands it will become something nice.

Great find. Looks like you got a lot of good project wood stored up.

Okay, now I believe you!

Looks like you really did stumble onto the mother lode. I’m seeing some great bowls in those logs.
