Topic tags/keywords: question

I recently bought an old Craftsman jointer. The model number is 103.23340. I think it was built in the ‘50s. It needs a little cleaning up, but it seems to work just fine. My problem is this, it didn’t come with a guard. There is a place to put one, and it originally came with one, but there isn’t one now. It would probably be pretty hard to find an original one to put on it. Is there any way to make one? I wouldn’t mind trying, but I don’t really know where to start. I want to use it, but I don’t want to lose my fingers. Any help would be appreciated.

I should have searched before I posted. I found what I was looking for.

Don W,

Just saw your post. Is your older jointer a 4 inch? If so, I would be interested in buying the wedges that hold the knifes or the whole head. Let me know.

Thanks, Geraldt
