Anyone here use Fret Saws? The hand tool type and not the scroll saw type.

“I have one of these in the 18 variety.

If any does have one like this, or similar, or modern, do you use it or do you prefer a powered scroll saw?

That’s a beaut Gary.. I’d kinda thought from your earlier post you were thinking of the oversized copeing saw rather than
the foot operated scroler. I’ve got an old Millers Falls steel frame one but never used it.

Now wouldn’t it be great to see someone make this 1870’s issue fret saw again? I have no idea if anyone would use one, but it sure looks great. I found mine at an estate sale, buried amongst junk in the basement. Remember, at estate sales, basement first, garage second, house last.

Are you sure that that isn’t made to be used on a chevalet? Doesn’t look like it would be able to support itself with that pivoting handle. Maybe the tightening bolt through a brass bushing?

I have not had the opportunity but would love to try once I get into scroll-work a bit more.
