Topic tags/keywords: urn memorial

I am in the east Houston area this week (actually between Baytown and Beaumount) and would like to maybe locate some nice hardwood for a memorial urn. My google-fu is weak so I would appreciate any pointers, addresses, etc. I’m basically looking for flat lumber as opposed to turning blocks since I don’t have a lathe anymore.

The actual creation of the urns won’t be until after I get back home to my tools.

Thanks in advance.

Clark’s Hardwood Lumber Co‎
700 East 5 1/2 Street
Houston, TX 77007-2723
(713) 862-6628

I HIGHLY recommend using a GPS to find this place… They are tough to find, but well worth the effort…

Houston Hardwoods Inc.
4910 West 34th St
Houston, TX 77092
(713) 686-6176

They’ve got nice stuff, but far from the friendliest bunch out there. I get the distinct impression that they don’t want to both with talking to anyone placing less than a $20K order…

M and G Sawmill
149 High Oak Dr.
Huntsville, Tx 77340

Nice guy, good stock, lousy hours for those that make a living outside of woodworking and have to either take a day off of work, or make a Saturday appointment to get to him… Wish he’d deliver to Galveston County…

Clark’s has a much wider variety of lumber, especially high end / quartersawn, but is significantly more expensive (vs Houston Hardwoods) and annoyingly has no price list. You have to get everything quoted.
