I frequently come across posts on this forum where people talk about buying used cabinet and contractor saws. I live in a relatively small town and good saw deals are hard to come buy on local and nearby craigslists.

I was wondering if there are other resources people go to for buying used tools, specifically table saws? Please list your favorite resource and search method.

CL is a great source, but Ebay and the free classifieds on wwing forums can be also. Try expanding the region you’re looking in. Be patient, and look frequently…the best deals go fast.

I have recently read about an amazing way to find used tablesaws and other equipment, check out, they sell equipment from industrial and small businesses that are shutting down, its an auction format with extremely low reserves, one example of a saw I found on there is a delta 34-976 located in Missouri 5 hours from where I live, the bid is at 250 right now and the reserve has been met, you can also search by area code, the one problem with this site is usually they dont ship so you need to be prepared to go get it but its worth it, another example, on Aug 19th a Delta Invicta RT-40 heavy duty TS sold for 500 dollars in massachusetts. Also check out they sell tools from government sites like school woodshops and such. Hope this helps.

Ask around. Put up fliers on local bulletin boards saying you are looking
to purchase woodworking machines.

You’ll get a call from a widow with a garage full of decent machinery sooner
or later…. or some similar scenario.

Have your say...
