I was wanting to do a Walnut jewelry box and inlay the words Live, Laugh, Love on three of the sides and then the persons name on the top?
Questions:
1. Do Walnut and Aspen get a long?
2. Does Walnut chip easily and how would I go about removing wood were I want the inlays? (I was looking at using my big plunge router or I have both a Dremel w/router or the Bosch Colt laminate trimmer that I thought I might be able to use.
3. What finish looks best with Walnut? I really want the light colored aspen to stand out?
4. Anyone have any sites that demonstrate doing inlays? I know the concept just not the technique and Walnut isn’t a cheap wood so I don’t want to screw it up:)

I was looking over your questions and i think i can help withsome of them.
1) In my eyes walnut and aspen complement each other very well
2)i would personally use a dremmel with a bottom bit this will allow you to
clean the wood out as you go.
3)in my eyes i think i would choose a medium stain you dont want it to be to dark because the grains of the wood wood wont stand out as well if you go to dark
4)I dont know of any place that has videos on how to do this but if i run across anything i will let you know
Hope this helps
