I just moved into a rental home and the back door is a sliding door with no accompanying screen door. Any ideas on how I can build one of these? Perhaps someone has some diy pics?

Thanks!

I Googled rail and style doors and got a list of articles similar to:

This may help.

Sounds like you need some help. Seriously….. I have a few names in your area that do work that kind of work for no fee.
Michael Baker
Michael Dike
JT Spears
Shingo Endo

I’d be glad to give you email addresses if you like. Otherwise…..advice; your renting!!! Don’t be a hero, you’ll never get it back. Also, you sound like a hard worker and you probably deserve everyone. I love the craft of woodworking. I also love the passion of young woodchucks like yourself. I know a guy in IN that’s willing to trade screen work for brakes.

If your door has the track for a sliding screen, you can get a replacement from most big box stores. I would avoid the “universal” replacements because they usually aren’t very sturdy. A dcreen shop can make a replacement that should fit properly, work well, and last a long time.

Since you’re renting, get the landlord invloved – either to provide a universal replacement, or share the cost of a better screen.
