I am looking for my first jointer. The rough sawn lumber I will use will be in 18"-20" length range but a good amount of volume. Money not a big concern but I really don't want a heavy long bed if I can find a QUALITY smaller joiner with a spiral/helix style blade that will many years. I see there is grizzly with a spiral head, the 8" Cutech, Rikon, burleigh, etc. anyone have experience with these smaller jointers that they can recommend. Thanks!
I have this Griz jointer G0656X-8" Jointer with Spiral Cutterhead. I couldn't be more pleased with it. It may be longer than you are looking at though, and possibly more $$$
If I was looking for a small footprint, 8" jointer with a HH I would be looking at the Cutek I don't think anyone is close on that price, with anything near the specs. The market here is awash with those smaller Jets, so I think they must not be too great. I've yet to see a Cutek on CL, or flea bay. I would like to see one run.
