Los Angeles is a hard town to find old tools in, but there are a few hardwood dealers that filled the huge gap left when Andy Anderson passed away and his mammoth vintage tool store in Santa Monica closed.

Found this info about an event August 20th at Anderson Plywood (no relation to Andy):

“August 20 is the next Anderson Plywood Old Tool Swap Meet from 6:00 AM until noon. The address is 4020 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230. Anyone Can Sell. There are NO space reservations. We start setting up at 4:30AM. If you are new, wait until Lionel or Laura get there before taking a space as some of us have permanent spots. If you only have a few tools to sell, you can put them in Laura’s space. For more information, call 310-397-8229”

I got some old stuff I might take out there to swap or give away.

I’ve gone the last 3 times they’ve had the event. Mostly hand tools but there is still good amount of power as well. There’s one guy who sells only power tools. Sometimes there’s a Festool demo as well depending on the rep’s schedule. Oh and free donuts :D

I’ve been to two of those old tool swaps here in Los Angeles. Great stuff to be had with a little picking. Bought my first Millers Falls 5A hand drill, as well as a box of James Swan auger bits for a song.

They have other events in SoCal. See the schedule here:
