Finally! My first drum sander. I nearly picked up a $800 22/44 Pro III that would of been a 6 hour round trip but passed on it. Instead, found a more local 16/32 plus. Perfect tracking, homemade roll around stand, no infeed/outfeed tables, everything works. I was going to seriously consider a newer model after 2018 for $1200, but figured this should be a good “starter” all purpose drum sander to learn with. 10 minutes away, I finally got around to picking up a Foley 387 handsaw/circular saw filer that I’ve been hesitant to buy for $50 for nearly a month. What the heck…it’s only $50 :) To my surprise, this thing is in mint condition. The guy said he bought it back in the 50’s and used it maybe 2 times. Comes with 3 handsaw holder clamps? And 2 instruction booklets. I didn’t know I’m suppose to wear a dress shirt and slack in the shop like the booklet shows :)
Guess I’ll be doing some learning about the Foley. I am AOK with hand sharpening handsaws by now…but doesn’t hurt to have this machine.

It’ll be interesting to see how often you use the sharpener after the first time. I bought a blade sharpener a few years back and used it twice. Realized I was too cheap to buy an expensive blade and too lazy to sharpen the cheaper ones.

Was looking at your cart for your Bosch miter saw. I really need to do that for mine. Been putting it off for years. Mine is already on a cart but it needs wings. Did you use plans from somewhere??

-Andy…. naw. I built from scratch. Was just trying to combine 3 useful woodworking areas into 1. Eventually got rid of it (almost all mobile stations have been removed) due to getting an additional cabinet saw.
For the Foley filer…I’ve seen the youtube video of it in action. If I only had 2 or 3 handsaws, I wouldn’t have bothered. But I have 15’ish to rehab and sharpen eventually.

The 357 filer will sharpen only non carbide blades.

Ron…Luckily, all my handsaws are non carbide :)
However, the guy did have another Foley machine for carbide sharpener. I did pass on that one.
