Recently purchased inserts from grizzly not to my liking. The original inserts are attached by a clip on the back end and a magnet on the front end. There are five adjusting screws to bring it up to table height. The zero clearance insert has no clip and doesn’t have any metal for the magnet to hold. The five screws must be used to hold it in place after you shim the insert to table height. This is ok if you never want to use your dado stack or change the blade. Otherwise you must unscrew rather than just lift it off. Any ideas out there ????

Can’t say, I have the infinity insert on my Sawstop. Insert for each blade. Love the system. Dan

I don’t have the Grizzly one, but I have one made by Leecraft, which I think works really well. It doesn’t have a clip or magnet, but instead has two screws toward the front that are supposed to be backed out until you get a friction fit. This holds it in quite well. Are you sure there are no screws on yours anywhere that are supposed to provide a friction fit? It doesn’t seem right that you would have to use the leveling screws to secure it, as they are supposed to be underneath the insert and just raised or lowered by reaching through the holes with a screwdriver to adjust. If you use them to secure the insert, then you have no way to level it.

Yes gr8hunter the inserts that came with my saw can b leveled up by adjusting the screws by going through the holes. There’s a clip in the rear and since it’s metal the magnet recessed in the table holds down the front. The zero clearance insert is made from phenolic with no clip. The holes are countersunk in it for the screws. If you use the screws for leveling the insert comes out to easy. A safety hazard to me

You have me wondering gr8hunter. Do you have a G0771z ? If you do I’m beginning to think they sent me the wrong ones.

No ccc118 It has no screws in it. It’s made from phenolic. The top of the screw holes are counter sunk. This makes you think that it’s intended to b held in by the screws. Starting to think they sent the wrong insert for my saw

Mine’s phenolic also, but has these screws at the front to provide a snug fit.

Mine isn’t the Grizzly one however. If you don’t anything like those screws, I would call them about it.

Just make one to your liking from wood. Or make two of them, one for your saw blade, one for your dado blade. Or even make one from aluminum. I have a 12” Hammer sliding table saw which has a narrow odd shaped saw blade hole. I made a zero clearance insert from aluminum plate. A wood cutting bandsaw will easily cut aluminum and a carbide tipped table saw blade will too. Just fit the aluminum insert into the hole, slide the saw fence over the insert but where it will miss the saw blade, and then slowly crank the saw blade up through the aluminum plate insert to cut the slot. Works like a charm! P.S. You can order almost any thickness of aluminum plate in small amounts from Online Metals https://www.onlinemetals.com/
