In closing his latest “sawdust session”, woodworking author Nick Engler posed this question;

“If a woodworker speaks in the forest, where no wife can hear…......is he still wrong?”

In my case only if the subject at hand is not woodworking related. My wife is VERY understanding of my hobby.

The reality of that is this . . .

If a husband speaks in the forest and his wife hears it….........It is probably a petrified forest!

Without a doubt. They seem to have an intuitive feel for these things anyway. After 31 years I have been trained well enough just to confess anyway, irrespective of whether I did it or not. It saves a lot of “discussion” later since I am going to be in the wrong.

What if you’re buying tools to make possible the furniture request you’ve been given?
Will you be forgiven when she looks at the new tools?
Will you still be sleeping “indoors” when she finds the bill?

Will the finished project get you out of the dog house?

You and Nick have brought to mind many questions.

Even in the forest I can still hear the faint words “YOU DID WHAT?” So I continue to practice “I’M Sorry”
one day it may even be believable. Solved the sleeping problem a long time ago, installed a fold down bunk in my woodshop:) Yes hon. I’m still sorry!!!
