My wife and I thought I could take some classes that a local shop is giving. I signed up for 3 of them in the next month

1. Router Basics
2. Chip Carving
3. Hand Planes

I am looking foward to them to help me make boxes better.

I will also have her take some pics of me in action.

I’d like to take some classes too. The closet spot I can find is an hour and a half away and there rather expensive. Enjoy your classes!

Thank you guys, the classes cost $67 for each one.

ShopTinker – I can assume that there are many woodworkers in your area that would love to share their knowlege with you. There are even alot of LJs around you that might help if you ask.

For what I am wanting to do, I will take training from a monkey so I can help others.

Very nice. Sounds like good classes. After you do the chip carving class, check out the one Marty did on this site.

Taking a class is a good thing. It can teach you the basics, but after that it will be up to you to perfect your own techniques. That’s where forume like this one come in handy. We are all interested in sharing our woodworking skills. Even though I have been doing woodworking for over 50 years, I can still learn something new through these forums. The internet has been called many things, some good and others bad, but this is where it really shines by getting people of similar interests together.

I’m so glad to hear that, Arlin. They will be good for you and you will learn a lot. I especially like to know that you will be studying chip carving. It’s very relaxing and you can do it anywhere. God bless and I hope that it works out very well for you.

Good idea Arlin. While you are at it, try to throw in a class on finishing. My wife and I learned a lot from one. I found out that I didn’t know anything about finishing :-) and it made a big difference.
