So we bought a used playset that has some rot. The existing boards are pressure treated 5/4×4. I went to the big box stores in our area…the all carry pressure treated 5/4×6, but no 5/4×4.

Now, I can buy the 6 in wide boards and cut them down to 4 in wide ones (and route the cut edges to round them)....but that adds quite a bit of work to what would be an easy replacement project.

Anyone have any idea if pressure treated 5/4×4 if I headed to a lumber year?

hmm from my lumberyard days i cant remember any 4” wide decking materials. They were all 6”. I guess you could pull the existing boards in sections of 3 and replace with 2 sections, theyd both end up being @ 12”

The only 5/4 I have ever seen is 6” wide and 16’. All they have here. you can get many 2x ? but you are still not there. Get the 6” and cut it.

I’m replacing boards in an existing structure, so if I can find new lumber to match the old, it cuts down on my work.

I found a place that I can order 5/4×4 in 16’ lengths, that will work.

Have your say...
